Pet Peeve
March 26, 2008

I recently got the most wonderful thing as a joint birthday present from myself and all my family… a Wacom Intuos3 pen tablet!!! Yay! I’ve been playing with it as much as I possibly can and am already getting the feeling of “how did I ever manage without it?” – Yes, it’s that wonderful. So what better way to test/use my new toy than doing something for illustration friday. This week’s theme is pet peeve – I can’t say it’s my favourite, but hey; at first I wasn’t sure what to draw, so then I thought “what annoys me more than anything else in the whole world?” – the first thing that popped into my mind was cockroaches. Yugg, evil little things, who ever thought I’d want to draw one… but there it is.
Nice cockroach … could you tell me how it is done in WACOM, line drawing scanned and painted in Photoshop or Painter? I remember the cockroach can fly in other countries.
Nice job. I got used to these things living in the south. Now that I’m in a roach free zone (SEattle) I kinda miss them. Ok that was a lie. Nice drawing anyway. Enjoy the Wacom!
Gross. They don’t die. So unnatural. I would say more like mortal enemy than pet peeve. Sometimes I like the color brown but this is really disgusting… and I mean that in a good way.
Hi again. I wasn’t sure the best way to respond to your questions on my blog. so I’ll do it here. My full-time job is a graphic designer for a healthcare union. It’s not very creative but pays the bills and does some good in the world. It’s mostly print (from newsletters and t-shirts to buttons and billboards). Not really in the industry, just down and dirty design. Freelance stuff is very creative and fun. These jobs are mostly from networking and word of mouth. My advice is to just keep at it, keep drawing and developing, get your work out there and make contacts. Good luck!
I’ve had my fill of those little blighters thank you very much. Here in Gordon’s Bay I only have to contend with crickets now
You have an incredible talent.
Stunning!!!!!!!!
