Greetings Cards

August 12, 2008

So, I’ve been seriously considering trying my hand at designing/illustrating greetings cards. I think it might be a good opportunity to get my art out there and make a bit of money at the same time… Been thinking of selling on Cafe Press or some such site & maybe even going around to some gift stores with examples of my work to see if they might be interested. I’ve started out by doing cards for my friends; this is what I’ve got so far (click on the thumbnails to view the larger image):

So I wanna know what your opinion is: Do you think it’s a good idea or a bad idea? Do I have a chance at success? Please leave your comments.

I think its always good to find new ways to market your work.
Cafe Press is a good start :-)

Regarding the gift stores. Some are very biased about what they take in, or i has to be approved by the manager, who often isn’t around.
But there are some places where you can buy shelf space to display your work. Like the place in Willowbridge.

    I say give it a go :-)

You know what, I like them.
And Janel, I agree – the Durbanville area is perfect for good sales. However, one needs stock – quite a bit. Do you have Trish?

Where do you live? Maybe there are stores that would be interested?

Thanks for the comments/advise Janel & Jacoba.

I might try Xzibit at Willowbridge (I think that’s what they’re called).

I haven’t printed any cards yet – first trying to determine whether it’s worth that initial cost of printing… one of the reasons why I like Cafe Press ;)
